About the Omokoroa Coastal Challenge
We are a group of locals who are passionate about helping our community get access to great facilities. We initially organised this event as a one-off to raise money towards the Omokoroa Skate Path in 2015. However, due to the success of that event and all the positive feedback we received, we decided to keep doing it! Our team has grown each year – we started with 2 and now we have 7 people. We all give our time free of charge as we love this part of our country, enjoy being part of such a vibrant and engaged community, and want to help improve the resources we have.
Every cent we raise gets donated to our chosen charity or community group. We are hugely grateful for the generosity of our sponsors and all those businesses who donate prizes and give us discounted services – without them this event would not be possible (or would cost participants a lot more!!). Thank you for being part of our event – we look forward to seeing you at the start line!.
Money Donated to the Community so far:
2015 – Omokoroa Community Skate Group $5800

2017 – Omokoroa Sports Pavilion $8700
2018 – Waihi Beach Surf Life Saving Club $4000 and Tauranga Community Foodbank $4000.
We also donated over $1000 to Omokoroa Community groups who helped us Marshall – Omokoroa Sea Scouts, Omokoroa Playcentre and the Omokoroa Fire Brigade and First Responders. The Omokoroa Sports Pavilliopn also raised over $1000 from the food stall.
